Cigar Review: Powstanie SBC 2024

Powstanie SBC 2024  is limited-production cigar that according to a press release generated strong buzz at the show, with retailers and cigar enthusiasts eager to secure allocations of the latest release in the sought-after SBC series.

Mike Palmer, National Sales Manager for Powstanie states, “SBC24 isn’t a cigar we mass produce — it’s built for the shops and customers who truly understand what we do. If you were at the show and locked yours in, it’s coming your way now. We don’t hype. We don’t chase trends. We build cigars that punch above their weight — and SBC24 is no different.”

The cigar was supposed to come out originally in Q4 before being released in 2025.

The Cigar: The Powstanie SBC 24 is a barber pole but at first glance it is easy to miss the fact that the cigar utilizes two different wrappers. The cigar features a vertigo inducing magenta and sky blue band denoting SBC24 over a baby blue Powstanie symbol. In the hand, the cigar feels dry and brittle with a minimal amount of oils present. The cigar has a hefty weight to it with no voids of tobacco.

The Taste: The cold draw of Powstanie SBC 24 serves up notes of prunes and cookie dough with raw tobacco while the aroma from the foot sees prunes and apricots. Once the cigar is toasted and lit moving into the first third reveals notes of earth, summer fruits and a touch of graham. There is also a subtle amount of spice as the first third comes to a close that is intensified on the retrohale.

The second third sees notes of apricots and brown sugar as the dominant flavor profile with a subtle cinnamon and cookie dough. As we approach the halfway point notes of earth begin to emerge growing more dominant with each puff. In the background remains graham along with a touch of sea salt. The retrohale sees sea-salt and pepper notes with some wood.

Moving into the final third the cigar sees some blackberries emerge with the slight apricot sweetness remaining in the background. The final third is full in perceived strength stepping it up beyond the medium-full of the first two-thirds. As the cigar finishes there is continued blackberries, with earth and graham cracker while while retrohale has some sea salt, pepper and espresso.

Conclusion: I had a hard time putting down the SBC 24 which stands for Surrounded by Champions. Released every two years this version might be the best SBC to date. Released every 2 years the cigar is extremely limited but definitely worth the chase. It’s complex and flavorful with a nice amount of strength that creeps up on you in the end. How much did I like this cigar? It was dusk as I moved into the final inch and was being eaten alive by mosquitos before I put it down with a quarter-inch left.
