Davidoff Exclusive Maxamar 25th Anniversary is one of 16 cigars released in 2025 that are Davidoff Exclusives. Five of those releases celebrate a monumental milestone of a shop anniversary while others are duty free/airport exclusives, international regionals, or an overseas anniversary.
For over 25 years, Maxamar Ultimate Cigars has stood steadfast as the premium tobacconist of Orange County, California. In 2012, Small Batch Cigar premiered as the online extension of Maxamar, providing the same luxurious cigar experience of their brick and mortar in Southern California to enthusiasts from coast to coast. To celebrate 25 distinguished years in business, Maxamar / Small Batch and Davidoff partnered up to release a anniversary milestone worthy of commemorating
According to Edward Simon the chief marketing officer at Oettinger Davidoff, “The Davidoff Exclusive Editions are a testament to the strong relationships we have built with our esteemed retail partners around the world. For 2025, we are delighted to present 16 exclusive editions, each uniquely celebrated through exquisitely designed packaging. With intricate hot-foil elements and artwork that reflect the identity of each partner or special occasion, these cigars are more than just a pleasure to enjoy – they are true collector’s pieces that honour our partnerships and the milestones they represent.”
For 2025 all of the releases measure 5.5 x 55 and the tobaccos are from Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and the USA although where on the cigar has not been disclosed.

The Look: A gorgeous darker wrapper adorns the Davidoff Exclusive Maxamar 25th Anniversary that creates a wonderful contrast with the white label band that has become synonymous with Davidoff. The wrapper is loaded with oils and a few notable veins that detract from the overall beauty of the cigar. In the hand the cigar has a nice weight though it feels heavier toward the cap versus the foot.
The Taste: There is a subtle sweetness to the cold draw and a touch of earth and rye present as well. The foot of the cigar smells like Davidoff with notes of barnyard and cedar along with a delayed note of white pepper.
After we toast and light the cigar there is an enjoyable nuttiness to the cigar along with hints of rye and a subtle brown sugar that seems to increases in intensity as we work further into the first third. As we prepare to move on to the second third a caramel sweetness begins to develop. Meanwhile, the retrohale has served up subtle notes of earth.
Moving into the second third some chili pepper notes begin to emerge as the brown sugar of the first third has left the building. There are additional notes of oak, caramel and coffee to round things out on this luxury cigar. The retrohale serves up continued earth with the addition of some pepper and baking spices.
As we begin the final third the cigar becomes darker with notes of leather, earth and coffee beans. Any sweetness of the the first two thirds has dissipated as we close things out. The retrohale adds additional notes of leather which adds to long but enjoyable finish.
Conclusion: After yesterday’s review of the AVO Syncro 10th Anniversary I needed to light up something else from the factory just get rid of the disappointment. While as a consumer I have lost the vibe for AVO, Zino and Camacho I couldn’t help but reach for a Davidoff white label which I have always enjoyed far often than not. For me, Davidoff is and will be the benchmark cigar for luxury cigars. While the brand might seem dated at times, it is still a cigar that stands out especially in terms of the Dominican Republic.
While the company isn’t making note of the blend there is another 5.5 x 55 cigar made by the company that too doesn’t have the blend disclosed outside the wrapper and that is the Royal Robusto. For me there were similarities in the cigar that went beyond the size so I have my theories, but regardless this is an excellent cigar especially if you like a solid Dominican flavor profile.
